Stories About

What happens when Communication Science students meet students from the Food Innovation Program? The result is good digital storytelling. We asked the first bunch to use open source tools and what we got is: great ideas to tell great stories. Life experiences, passions, desires, thoughts on the future, all of these told through different and innovative techniques.
An idea developed by wwlab in collaboration with the Communication Science faculty’s graphics and video laboratory at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia
(Professor Damiano Razzoli).

Francesco Attanasio

Monica Busana. I’m Monica and I am 21 years old. I’m from Italy and live in Bagnolo in Piano. It’s a village near Reggio Emilia. I study comunication in all its forms, because I believe that society is composed of communication mechanisms and not people.

I wanted to tell the story of Francesco through the main theme of “travel”, as he has travelled a lot around the world.
I used Exposure, because it is a paltform that chronologically collects photos and text.Read the project

Elisa Bedin

Monica Busana. I’m Monica and I am 21 years old. I’m from Italy and live in Bagnolo in Piano. It’s a village near Reggio Emilia. I study  comunication in all its forms, because I believe that  society is composed of communication mechanisms and not people.

I wanted to tell the story of Elisa Bedin through the five senses. I thought that this theme was suitable for both myself and for Elisa, and that it was a different way to tell a classic story. I used Instagram, because I think it’s the most impactful social network. In my opinion, images are more powerful than words.

Elena Marverti. I’m Elena, I’m 23 years old. My great passions are blues music and reading.
I’m in my third year of Communications and one day I would like to work in the publishing world. But if I had to choose just one thing to do, it would certainly be to travel.

Elisa Sazzi. Hi, I’m Elisa, I consider myself a vibrant and sassy girl of 22 years old. For the past three years I have been studying Communications at the University in Reggio Emilia. My plans for the future are abundant, but certainly I will never stop to broaden my horizons and embark on new experiences in contact with people.

To tell the exciting and interesting story of Zachi, we decided to develop our storytelling project around the theme ‘Zachi’s Pantry’. We identified five items that best describe Zachi and her personal story about food. For each item, we collected photos, videos and quotes.

Originally from Verona, I have always stuck with my “Lesso con la Pearà”, even during my studies in Emilia. I’m interested in drawing, along with social media. Communication is very important to me, even more than a train running on time.

Giulia Veneziano. I’m Giulia Veneziano, I’m 21 years old.

When we met Riccardo Fantozzi, a champion of FIP, we wanted to share his story with the world. This experience taught us more about the food and beverage realm. During our process we focused on giving importance to what our homeland offers, and what it is known for worldwide: food.

Lazslo Raats. I’m Laszlo Raats and I’m a Dutch student studying Communication Sciences. I have been living in Italy for the last four years. While I aspire to a career in journalism, the portraits of the champions of the Food Innovation Program is a perfect opportunity to gain new storytelling experiences.

Storify, in my opinion is the perfect platform to combine imagery and text. It is a formative and well-designed space to share Elena’s dreams and future goals. Personally I believe that the past is why we’re here today, and that the present offers us opportunities to realize our future dreams. I hope that I’ve managed to transfer this idea into the story you’re about to read.Read the project

Kelly Angela Lee

Giulia Gualerzi. I’m Giulia and my favourite things in the world are books, food and Ryan Gosling.
I also like to write, talk with interesting people and fall in love with the main character of every movie I watch.
I’m a dynamic and proactive person.
The animals that I love most are hippos, jellyfish and unicorns, although I’ve never seen one.

Ilaria Chiusa. I am Ilaria, I am 22 and I love knowing things because when I’m unprepared I feel as though I were naked in the middle of a piazza.
In my childhood, I dreamed of becoming a superhero, and I’m still trying to.
In the meantime, I’m studying Communication Sciences because, when I was 6 years old and my mum said to me “beauty is in the eyes of the beholder”, I answered that I would build magic glasses to make everything fabulous to the beholder.
I’ve stopped searching for methods to build the glasses, but I’m still trying to make everything fabulous in people’s eyes.

To tell Kelly’s story we used a series of pictures from her past.
We made her engage with these pictures, in an interactive way. We projected these past photos directly onto her body against a white wall, and later added a description under each photo.
