INNOVATION IN DESIGN EDUCATION:
A PARTICIPATORY DEBATE WITH LUCIANA LEVERATTO
Design is changing. Design concepts have successfully reached areas of application that were previously distant and separate, and nowadays design tool vernacular is on everyone’s lips. In a world where everything is now “designed”, the role of the designer is also being reshaped.
Professionals involved in educating new generations of designers need to develop models that can deliver relevant knowledge and provide appropriate skills to future designers. Interexchange of ideas, discussion and creativity are needed to build a new context for design education.
The aim of this Food Is Conversation is to discuss the future of design education, where all participants can apply their expertise and imagination to shape new scenarios.
Luciana Leveratto is Master Academic Dean at IED Barcelona. With more than 20 years of experience in design education, she is dedicated to the content creation for new educational programmes, new methodologies for design education, coordination and development of multidisciplinary projects, and supervision of quality in educative programs.
She has a Graphic Design degree from the University of Buenos Aires. After ten years working on important projects about corporate identity and editorial design, her professional interest pushed her to the fashion field as an accessories designer.
In 2002 she moved to Barcelona, where she combines her design activities with academia. Her interest in innovative methodologies led her to became a certified LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® facilitator, trained by Robert Rasmussen, one of the creators of the methodology.
