with Danielle Nierenberg

Founder and President of Food Tank

Danielle Nierenberg is the founder and President of Food Tank and an expert on sustainable agriculture and food issues. She recently spent two years traveling to more than 35 countries across sub-Saharan Africa, Asia, and Latin America meeting with farmers and farmers’ groups, scientists and researchers, policymakers and government leaders, students and academics, and journalists collecting their thoughts on what’s working to help alleviate hunger and poverty, while also protecting the environment. She has spoken at major conferences and events all over the world and her knowledge of global agriculture issues has been cited widely in more than 3,000 major publications including The New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, USA Today, the International Herald Tribune, The Washington Post, BBC and the Guardian (UK).


Steven Gedeon

Professor, Motivational Speaker, Coach, Entrepreneur and Venture Capitalist

Dr. Gedeon is an entrepreneurship educator who has founded and led over a dozen private, public, venture capital and non-profit organizations; published over 100 articles, reports and patents; and delivered over 100 public speaking engagements and on-line tutorials on leadership and success. Steve has won over 20 awards including the President’s Award of Teaching Excellence, Experiential Teaching Award, and the USASBE National Award for Entrepreneurial Experiential Education Best Practices. Dr. Gedeon has broad experience in designing and delivering entrepreneurship curricula, and high-impact workshops in North America and Europe including an MBA in Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management in Germany, and the Ryerson Entrepreneur Institute in Canada.


Michiel Bakker

Director, Global Food Services, Google

Michiel Bakker is an international food and beverage professional with over 23 years of global experience in food and beverage operations, creating and building out partnerships, hotel development and openings, as well as general hotel, service and food and beverages operations. As the Director of Global Food Services (based in Mountain View, CA) Bakker leads Google’s world-renowned food program, supporting all food service related activities and initiatives for Google’s global community. Bakker’s focus areas include developing new insights and evidence in how food experiences can enable individuals and teams to be their best short and long term, and developing internal and external global partnerships to explore and tackle the challenges and opportunities in the broader food systems.

This FREE event is open to the public and will examine the theme ‘FEED THE FUTURE: how to nourish the future through good food and good practices’.  The panel is composed of respected speakers who are all experts in their varying fields including sustainable agriculture, entrepreneurship and alimentary operations.
